Terms and Conditions: The Game is a board game that examines the distinct “anti-language” of terms and conditions statements that are often pushed upon us without explanation. In the game, players assume the role of tech companies, and accumulate cards containing clauses and dollar amounts to form modular terms and conditions statements.
The game parallels the real-world inscrutability of terms and conditions statements and sheds light on the often unthinkable valuations lavished upon tech companies by investors. Can language truly be communication if it’s never read, or if it’s deliberately obfuscated? Is it possible to use satire to illuminate these dark crevices of discourse?
