The Research Yard is a new centralized space that brings together the research activities of Pratt Institute. Opened in 2023, the facility is situated within a former warehouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
I designed a comprehensive visual identity and environmental graphic system for the Research Yard that aims to tie together the breadth of Pratt’s research centers, the naval and maritime history of the Navy Yard, and the revitalized architecture of the space itself. The result is a typographic system based on the Foundry Gridnik typeface, combined with repeating yellow chevron patterns that serve as both wayfinding and identification elements.
