Fundamental Sichuan

Fundamental Sichuan is a small cookbook intended to be an introduction to cuisine from China’s Sichuan province. With “ten dishes but thousands of flavors”, the book offers a sample of dishes in several categories and is illustrated with photography from Sichuan’s dramatic landscapes.

Designed with the guidance of Timothy Samara at Parsons School of Design, as part of Graphic Design 3 in Fall 2013. This project was featured in the second edition of Samara’s Making and Breaking the Grid, published by Quarto in 2017.
